About the college
(About the college ) The Department of Physical Education was established in the Faculty of Education for Humanities in the academic year 1998-1999. Its development was remarkable, as it opened graduate studies for the master's program in 2005 and continued its remarkable development until it became independent in the Faculty of Physical Education in the academic year 2006 -2007 academic year based on the need to develop the infrastructure for sports and to achieve the goals of higher education and scientific research. Two scientific branches were introduced in the 2025-2026 academic year, namely: 1. The Theoretical Sciences Branch, which deals with the academic and theoretical aspects of sports sciences, including scientific, educational, psychological, and administrative courses that contribute to preparing students with comprehensive knowledge and a solid foundation for scientific research. 2. The Applied Sciences Branch, which focuses on the practical, experimental, and applied aspects of sports, contributing to the refinement of students' skills and the development of their practical abilities in various sports and activities. In line with the college's objectives of supporting scientific competencies and utilizing academic expertise, it was decided to appoint Professor Dr. Aref Abduljabbar Hussein as head of the Theoretical Sciences Branch, while Assistant Professor Dr. Ziad Mishaal Farhan was appointed to head the Applied Sciences Branch, given their distinguished scientific and academic experience in their respective fields. Its goal was to meet the needs of Iraqi society and educational institutions for cadres with scientific and practical qualifications specializing in the fields of physical education and sports. Physical education, with its modern philosophy, dedicates opportunities to talented individuals, encourages good morals, and promotes patriotism and sports, which call for supporting everything that is healthy and clean, based on the right of young people to develop and participate actively, in addition to promoting productive work to support the national economy, considering that practicing sports as a lifestyle is the crowning achievement of health, work, and success. Believing in the importance of interaction and strengthening relationships with the local community, the college works to provide and create an environment conducive to holding various sports programs and training courses in order to contribute to the development of the scientific knowledge necessary for those working in various sports fields. The college also contributes to building a sound educational system to prepare educational and scientific staff at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to serve the community. It also aims to activate close links between the college, graduates, and relevant community institutions. It constantly strives, in coordination with the university presidency, to raise the scientific level of faculty members by organizing development courses and open discussion seminars to serve its students and the community. The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences includes an elite group of faculty members with advanced degrees in various specializations in physical education to cover all scientific and practical knowledge requirements. The college also includes a number of administrative and technical staff. 
The College is located in the University in the City of Ramadi, the Capital of the Province of Anbar
