Cyber Extortion: Motives, Methods, and Prevention Strategies
The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Anbar University organized an awareness lecture titled:
“Building the Capacity of Women and Girls to Combat Cyber Extortion: Motivations, Methods, and Prevention Strategies,” in collaboration with the Anbar Provincial Police Command / Directorate of the Friends of the Interior Division.
The lecture was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Labib Zouyan Musaykh, along with a number of female students, as part of efforts to raise community awareness about the dangers of cyber extortion and ways to combat it.
The following speakers took turns presenting the lectures:

The speakers addressed the primary motives behind cyber extortion crimes and the methods extortionists use to lure victims, in addition to providing a set of practical guidelines and preventive measures that help protect women and girls from falling victim to these crimes.
The speakers emphasized the importance of digital awareness, the need for caution when using social media, and the importance of not sharing personal information or private photos, while highlighting the role of security agencies in investigating these cases and holding perpetrators accountable.
At the conclusion of the lecture, the Dean praised this awareness initiative, commending the efforts of the Anbar Provincial Police Command in supporting educational activities that contribute to protecting society—particularly female students—from growing cyber threats.
